Design development can be really multi-faceted. As an interior architect, we take a full picture, holistic, approach to design. During programming, we consider individual elements and how they can contribute to the environment as a part of a larger whole. Through this process, we begin to outline the function and purpose behind a specific design move. Exploring different material and furniture options help tie it all together.
The Front Desk
The existing desk location in the corridor provided an obstacle where guests did not know where to proceed to check-in. Our strategy was to emphasize the desk area through materials and a sense of presence.
A Breakfast Room & Lounge
Through space planning and programming, we explored crafting a relaxing dual purpose room to accommodate both individuals and families. One of our main goals was to create an atmosphere that could remain welcoming and active no matter the hour.
A Grand Entry
We wanted to illuminate the main corridor of the guest lounge while drawing attention to the beautiful architecture of space. Exploring different levels of translucency through the material selection we designed this custom light fixture to complement the desk at a ground level.
General Store Programming
General stores are the original corner store where you could buy anything from food, clothing, to household products. Drawing inspiration from contemporary stores and museum shops we outfitted this new store with custom casework tailored to maximizing the amount of product the team at Rush Creek could display.
